There are two main types of meditation, focus and non-focus. The following meditations are forms of focused meditation.
For the following meditations you may be in a sitting position or lying down. Relaxing and doing some deep breathing first, enables a person to be in a meditative state more deeply and easily. The length of time you focus on any area is dependent on what is comfortable for you, otherwise the mind wanders. Usually a minute is enough. If information is continuing to come to one's awareness, then staying with it until its completion, will probably be the most effective. Do what works best for you.
Meditation on Planets:
We are all affected by the energy of the planets. Some persons learn about it through having their astrology charts read. Another way is to tune into the planet itself. This helps a person understand the effects of the planets and in time will help in assimilating and using their energies.
In astrology, the Sun and Moon are considered the same as planets. The order you may wish to use is: Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Earth (We live here, it should be included.), Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto. Astronomers no longer consider Pluto a planet, but it still has the same energy and can have quite an effect on persons.
You may wish to do only a few planets at a time.
Meditation: Be in a meditative state. Start with the Sun. Feels its energies throughout your body. Tune into the energies. Be aware of what you are experiencing. What effect does it have on you? You may ask the sun if it has information for you.
When you have finished with the Sun, let it fade away and ask for the energy of the Moon to come into your body. Do the same as you did with the Sun. when you have finished, continue down the list of planets.
When you have finished the meditation, stretch well. This helps assimilate the energies and bring you out of the meditation state.
Meditation on Qualities:
Developing positive qualities is a very important part of our growth. Peace, patience, love, joy, strength, endurance, kindness, and understanding are a few of them. If we hold the energy of a particular quality in our bodies while in a meditative state, it is easier to recognize and develop them.
For the following meditation, you may use any or all of the above qualities or some other ones you in which you are interested.
Meditation: Be in a meditative state and hold a quality in your body. Open to it until it fills you and feels assimilated. You may wish to meditate on ways to use the quality. When you have finished move on to the next one.
When you have finished meditating, stretch well. This helps assimilate the energies and bring you out of the meditative state.
Meditations on colors, numbers or shapes.
Using colors, numbers or shapes are other ways of tuning into energies as a method of
bringing balance into the system. Many times, information can also come through this type of meditation. All of these forms represent different energies with which we function in our lives.
For colors, rainbow hues work well: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple. End the meditation by filling yourself with a radiant light. This is an excellent way to complete the meditation, as the radiant light contains all colors.
For numbers - one through ten is usually best. Some persons like to use double numbers: 11, 22, 33, 44, 55, 66, 77, 88, 99.
For shapes - circle, rectangle, triangle, square, pentagon, hexagon, heptagon, octagon, nonagon, or decagon may be used. There are other more sophisticated shapes that are available. They may involve too much thinking to be useable!
